CREMATION NICHES:

The word "cremation" is derived from the Latin word "crematus" or "cremare" meaning "to burn up." Cremation is an increasingly popular alternative to casket burial.

Often individuals come to Maplewood with pre-conceived ideas that their faith does not allow cremation, only to learn that cremation is an acceptable option.

Maplewood offers many different burial and memorial options for cremation. Inside the mausoleum we have two beautiful wooden, glass front columbariums (structure for holding cremated remains). A family can display a cremation urn of their choosing and also include a few small bits of memorabilia or a picture. On the outside, front of the mausoleum we have beautiful granite niches. Each niche can hold up to two cremains and can be engraved with the name and dates. As an option, a vase may be attached for floral arrangements and/or an emblem may be engraved. In some instances with couples, one wants to be cremated and the other does not. In this case, in a single crypt in the mausoleum, a casket and one cremains may be placed. Both names can be engraved on the outside of the crypt. The same thing with in ground burial, a cremains can be buried on top of the casket and both names would be engraved on the monument.

In Spring 2023 there will be new, lit, glass niches in the new addition.
